How to Add Your Phone Number to the Do Not Call List

If you’re tired of spam and telemarketing calls, you can block them legally by adding your number to the National Do Not Call Registry — a free service provided by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

1. Register Your Number

You can add mobile or landline numbers in two simple ways:

  • Online: Visit www.donotcall.gov

  • By Phone: Call 1-888-382-1222 from the number you want to register

Registration is free and never expires.

2. What Happens Next

Once registered, telemarketers must stop calling you within 31 days.
However, you might still receive calls from:

  • Political organizations

  • Charities and surveys

  • Companies you’ve done business with recently

3. How to Verify or Remove Your Number

  • Check if your number is on the list at donotcall.gov

  • You can remove or update your number anytime

4. Report Violations

If you keep getting spam calls after registering:

  • Go to donotcall.gov → “Report Unwanted Calls”

  • Or call 1-888-382-1222 to report violations

AvNexo Tip: Combine the Do Not Call list with your phone’s built-in spam filters (like Silence Unknown Callers on iPhone) for maximum protection.
