 If you live in Indiana or use a cell phone in the U.S., you can protect yourself from unwanted telemarketing calls by joining both the Indiana Do Not Call List and the National Do Not Call Registry.

1. Indiana Do Not Call List

The Indiana Attorney General’s Office maintains its own registry in addition to the federal one.
Registering adds extra protection for residents receiving calls from Indiana-based marketers.

How to Register in Indiana:

  • Visit indonotcall.org

  • Click “Sign Up” and enter your phone number and email

  • Confirm your registration via email

Your number stays on the list indefinitely and you can register both landline and mobile numbers for free.

2. National Do Not Call Registry for Cell Phones

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) also manages a nationwide registry that includes cell phones.

How to Register:

  • Go to donotcall.gov

  • Or call 1-888-382-1222 from the phone you want to add

Registration takes effect within 31 days, and it never expires.

3. What Calls Are Still Allowed

Even if you’re registered, you might still receive:

  • Political or charitable calls

  • Survey or informational calls

  • Calls from businesses you’ve interacted with recently

4. Reporting Violations

If unwanted sales calls continue:

  • File a complaint at donotcall.gov

  • Or contact the Indiana Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division
